Chris took Kya to the vet on Monday the 16th for her final check-up before having the pups. Dr Main said everything was fine and thought she would have them on Friday or Saturday. Big surprise.... he said EIGHT pups; from the ultrasound we were only expecting three or four.
Tuesday morning I received a call from Chris that Kya's temp had dropped and I should probably come now if I wanted to see the pups born! By the time I got to Michigan from NW Indiana Kya was in mild labor and very happy to see me and her canine sister Gabi.
In perfect Kya style, she decided that she didn't want to have the pups that night... labor stopped and we all went to sleep. The next morning Kya started having contractions again around 10am... they were very mild, but we were getting concerned so called the vet who assured us that all would be fine. All the while Kya lazed on Chris' bed; rolling over for tummy rubs during contractions then snoozing in between.
